Allergens / Safety Advice | In general, essential oils, if correctly used are safe. However, because they are highly concentrated, they must always be used with care. They should never be taken internally. Some people may experience an allergic reaction. During the first four months of pregnancy the oils of Cedarwood, Peppermint, Rose, Rosemary and Fennel are best avoided. If pregnant avoid Basil, Celery Seed, Cinnamon, Citronella, Sage, Clove, Hyssop, Juniper, Marjoram, Myrrh, Nutmeg, and Thyme. Use only half recommended dosages for other oils. If epileptic avoid: Fennel, Hyssop, Rosemary and Sage. Those with high blood pressure should avoid: Hyssop, Rosemary, Sage and Thyme. This is for guidance only. If you have any of the above conditions please obtain advice from a qualified aromatherapist before using. |
